- I've been looking for a bare bones new or used Amiga 500 for a long time now.
- I see many for sale in the amiga.marketplace forum, but almost all are priced
- higher than $75 and most only have 512K Agnus chips and Kickstart/WB 2 ROMs.
-
- I want a simple Amiga 500 with a 1 meg Agnus, 1.3 ROMs, an A501 512K RAM
- expansion, A500 power supply, and mouse. To be able to play old games I find
- this configuration is most compatible. Older Agnus chips, newer or older
- ROMs, or different types of memory expansions seem to result in several games
- no longer working. I once got a revision 5 A500 with a broken shift key, 2.5
- megs, and a 1084S for $50, but I sold it because many games did not work on
- it. You'd think it would be possible to find a simple A500 for $75 delivered,
- but I am beginning to give up hope. Now I wish I had tried to upgrade the
- Agnus chip on the A500 instead of selling it thinking I could find a 1 meg
- Agnus and a unit without a broken key for a comparable amount.
-
- Does anyone know of any mail order companies in the US which might have the
- type of A500 I'm looking for, even if I have to pay more money? It seems
- that every time I reply to an Amiga for sale ad to inquire about the
- motherboard revision/ROMs, Agnus chip, or state of the keyboard/internal
- disk drive, I never hear back. I guess it must be asking too much to find out
- any details beyond "working Amiga 500, 1 meg".
-
- Any help would be appreciated. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm complaining.
- I'm simply frustrated.
